Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya

Ganesh Chaturthi is an auspicious occasion, especially for Hindus in India, where they celebrate the birth of Lord Ganesha, the “lord of the people”. Ganesh Puja is primarily a religious and cultural celebration for people across India and is now spreading across cultures and countries as a global celebration. Lord Ganesha is also described as the “ Lord of wisdom” who imparts intellect and knowledge. SKV celebrated this auspicious day actively with zeal and enthusiasm, keeping alive the spirit of religious celebrations that are a trademark in India. The Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 celebration was a step towards enlightenment and rooting students to their Indian values, traditions and culture, despite the adaptation of modern and western modes of education in school. We at SKV believe in imparting progressive and experiential learning glazed in Indian culture and values. Therefore, as a part of cultural awareness at SKV, we never fail to educate our students to stay in touch with their roots. Among the unceasing list of SKV events is the Ganpati Utsav organised by SKV, students paid their references to Lord Ganesha and prayed for his blessings to enlighten them towards the right path and prevent them from turning towards an unethical path. This traditional celebration at Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya was followed by sweet distribution to students and facilities. Ganesh Chaturthi’s celebration in SKV was a highlight as we arranged a grand event in place of Vinayaka Chavithi, where students performed thematic dances and songs and spoke about the day’s significance. Teachers, students and staff assembled to actively participate and contribute to the decoration and festival mood to respect the cultural diversity at SKV and value the ancient traditions passed to us from our ancestors. Returning to culture and transcending into spiritual awakening was a break from our daily routine.
